Hello Huntsville!
Welcome to another edition of ‘This Week in Huntsville’!
March is here, and with it, the promise of longer days, blooming flowers, and warmer weather. Spring break is just around the corner, giving families and students a chance to relax and enjoy all that Huntsville has to offer. From leadership announcements to community events, here’s what’s happening this week!
Exciting leadership changes are shaping the future of our community. Jason Brandolini has been named the new President & CEO of the Huntsville-Walker County Chamber of Commerce, bringing experience and vision to the role. Over at Sam Houston State University, Jason Vest has been appointed as the new Dean of the College of Arts & Media, while the SHSU College of Education has recognized its Distinguished Educator of the Year recipients.
Huntsville is full of inspiring individuals making a difference. Sarah Hensley’s faith-driven leadership continues to encourage those around her. Debra McCammon and the Hospitality House offer support to families of incarcerated individuals, and Marcie Bartholomew has been named CASA’s February Advocate of the Month for her dedication to children in need.
Community events are bringing people together for great causes. HLI Class 43 is hosting a donation drive for the Rita B Huff Humane Society to support local animals in need. Meanwhile, the Huntsville Public Library has a full lineup of events this March for book lovers and lifelong learners alike. Over at the new shelter, the community celebrated the first adoptions at the facility during an open house.
New and exciting businesses are on the horizon! Honor Cafe is coming soon to bring a fresh new dining experience to Huntsville, and The Christmas Village is gearing up to spread holiday magic year-round.
In other news, Walker County leaders recently visited the Texas Capitol for important legislative discussions, and The Legal Corner explores the recent ruling that struck down the Corporate Transparency Act.
Spring brings plenty of opportunities to get outside and enjoy local attractions. The Sam Houston Memorial Museum is in full bloom with exciting spring events, while Kaye’s Wednesday Wisdom explores the healing power of nature. And if you’re getting into spring cleaning mode, Deep Clean Texas is ready to help with professional services.
All this and much more in this week's edition of This Week in Huntsville!
