Hello Huntsville!
Welcome to another edition of ‘This Week in Huntsville’!
Huntsville showed its heart last week, turning out in force to help flood victims hundreds of miles away in the Texas Hill Country. More than two dozen volunteers, including staff from TDCJ–Huntsville Unit, teamed up with First Baptist Church Huntsville to load a U-Haul full of supplies, delivering critical relief to families impacted by recent flooding. Read how our community stepped up.
Here in Huntsville, more support is underway. A garage sale fundraiser at FBC Huntsville is helping raise money for flood victims, while volunteers are still needed to assist with flood recovery in San Angelo. If you’ve got time, energy, or extra supplies—now’s the moment to make a difference.
We also welcomed new businesses to town! Tamal on the Square is now open and serving up flavor downtown, Huntsville Nail Bar just launched, and sweet news is on the way—Crumbl is coming soon. So is Mortar & Pestle of Texas, adding to our growing local dining and retail scene.
Celebrations of community continue with the Huntsville Community Choir, which is still going strong after 31 years. The Piney Woods Wedding Association is making headlines by connecting vendors and brides across the region. Meanwhile, Adopt a Teacher invites residents to sponsor and encourage local educators this school year.
In legal tips from Sam A. Moak’s Legal Corner, be sure to review your insurance policies as hurricane season ramps up, and avoid the pitfalls of DIY estate planning with his reminder that heirs often pay the price.
Looking to buy a house? Our First-Time Homebuyer Guide is a great place to start. And don’t miss Kaye’s Wednesday Wisdom for a thoughtful take on the little things that make a big difference.
Finally, the community mourns the loss of a legend. David Adickes, creator of the iconic “A Tribute to Courage” Sam Houston statue, passed away. His legacy will live on in the art and spirit he gave to Huntsville.
Don’t forget to check out all that is happening this weekend under our events section! All this and much more in this week's edition of This Week in Huntsville!
