We've felt the chill in the air as February winds down, but with warmer weather just around the corner, Huntsville remains active with important news and community updates.
In legal matters, The Legal Corner by Sam A. Moak discusses the consequences of dying without a will in Texas and why it’s essential to review your estate plans regularly. Meanwhile, Walker County is preparing for an important decision as residents get ready to vote on the hospital bond, a move that could bring significant healthcare improvements to our area.
Community support is thriving as Elliott’s Jewelers launches its 2nd Annual Jewel Box: A Heart for CASA campaign to help children in need. At the same time, the Share the Love donation drive is collecting items for seniors in our community. And if you’re feeling lucky, SAAFE House is raffling off a 1-carat diamond to raise funds for victim services.
Big changes are coming to local infrastructure, with the Smither Drive Bridge over IH-45 closing for reconstruction. In education, Sam Houston State University is expanding its offerings with the launch of SamPoly, a new college focused on workforce training, and the university has also appointed Ryan K. Zapalac as the new dean of the College of Health Sciences.
